Sponsored Video - A bra that tweets!

Something a little different today on the blog, but extremely important so I thought it was worth giving a mention.

I am the worst person in the world for spending any time on myself. I wish I could say quality time, but I mean even a little five minutes here and there. When I'm not working, I will always prioritise spending my time off keeping busy whether it be cleaning the flat, sorting out Dexter and the Guinea Pigs, running errands and doing general life admin nonsense. I never take any time to sit down and read a book, watch a film on my own, or do anything utterly selfish for myself. I always have a to do list as long as my arm, but sometimes I look at this list and think 'what have I actually benefited from getting all that done?' - apart from maybe being a bit more organised.

Recently I have decided that this needs to change, and a simple shift in routine and attitude is even  helping positively with my anxiety. I read about the Nestle Fitness Tweeting Bra campaign, and realised that I am very guilty of NEVER taking five minutes to do a breast self examination, never mind all of the above! But it's not just for the women, around 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year and around 400 of those are men. People diagnosed with breast cancer now are twice as likely to survive the disease for at least ten years than those diagnosed forty years ago. Which is fantastic news but still, don't take any chances and forget to do a self examination on your breasts monthly. It doesn't take long, and it's the sort of time that you spend on yourself that could end up being extremely worth while (and quite possibly life saving!)

To remind us about self examination, greek actress Maria Bakodimou is wearing a clever bra with bluetooth installed for two weeks, that will tweet every time she unhooks the clips and takes it off. You can follow Maria and her bra on twitter here. That is one line I never thought I would hear myself say! The power of social media, it really baffles me :) So if you can take five minutes to read this blog post, please take five minutes a month to self exam.

In general, I think we should all be a bit more selfish and spend quality time on ourselves. My new mantra is healthy mind and healthy body, and you will see what I've been doing to get to this place in the next couple of posts.

This post has been sponsored by Nestle Fitness, but all opinions are my own.
