What's happening, Glasgow?

T.G.I.F! First of all I wanted to thank you all for your reaction to my last post. I really appreciate all comments and feedback, and its reassuring to know that I'm not alone in how I feel when it comes to everything I was discussing. On Tuesday I head up to Shetland with work for two weeks, so rather than being sad or anxious about being away from home and the job being quite tough, I'm going to try and put a positive spin on it. I can take all my 'life admin' stuff with me to get sorted, my camera and laptop for blogging, a couple of books, and hopefully on my day off I can go explore some of the island. It will be strange having evenings to myself, and no cats or Pete to entertain! So I guess I'll just need to make the most of it - have lots of bubble baths, paint my nails and indulge in some cheesy shows on Netflix. I'll hopefully be home in time for my 26th birthday, then I'll only have a month of the job left and will be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I shared a little bit of my love for Glasgow at the end of the last post. There are so many fun things happening in the city over the coming weeks and months, I thought I'd share a handful of the events I am looking forward to (skipping straight past the Brand New gig the first week in June... which I am now going to miss, sob!)

Friday I'm In Love- Saturday 23rd May

Friday I'm In Love is a club night where a live band plays pop, indie and rock anthems and the crowd sings along guided by lyrics on big screens. It's not Karaoke, it Massaoke! - where the crowd sings as one. So if you love singing your heart out along to songs when you're night out, then this communal experience is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. If you'll miss it this weekend then that's okay, they're gonna be at the Edinburgh Festival at the Gilded Balloon nightclub from 7th - 30th August.

Topshop X Blow- Saturday 23rd May

Two of my favourite things, clothes and hair, join forces tomorrow at Blow in Finnieston for a day of all things summer (You may recognise that gorgeous second picture above with the glittery roots? It's one from a Blow photo shoot which almost broke the internet pretty recently!) Personal shoppers from Topshop will be on hand tomorrow to give advice and show examples of this seasons trends, and give you some inspiration if you've got holidays, festivals (and general summer debauchery) to attend. Blow's new braid bar will also be in full swing, so you can get some complimentary braids while stocking up on personal style advice for Summer. They're open from 10am-6pm, so head down for a free cider and some grub from Gusto! And there's also 50 luxury goody bags being given away too.

A couple of weeks ago I gathered a team of detectives together (Uncle Greig, Pete and Claire) to join me in a real life escape game,  Tick Tock Unlock. The goal is to escape from a locked room in 60 minutes, otherwise you are trapped in there forever (obvz...) You need to solve a series of puzzles and unravel clues to solve the mystery before the time runs out. I won't reveal too much, so that you can go along and try it for yourself, but I must admit it was pretty damn hard! Each member of our team definitely brought a different skill set to the task at hand, and we worked together pretty well. We managed to escape with 7 minutes left, but heard afterwards that only 50% of people manage to escape before the time is up. Tick Tock Unlock has been a big hit in Leeds and Liverpool, and has just arrived in Glasgow. Let me know if you end up going and if you manage to solve the mystery in time.

The Color Run- Sunday 21st June

I am so excited that The Color Run is coming to Glasgow in June. It's a 5k race and at every kilometer runners get covered in coloured powder, similar to that of the Indian Holi Festival. So you start off in a clean white t-shirt and end the race resembling a mini rainbow! The Color run raised more than £140,000 last year for their charity partner, and I was pleased to hear that this years partner is NSPCC. This will be my first 5k, and I'm definitely comforted by the fact that their tagline is 'The happiest 5k on the planet'.

It feels right to end all that singing, styling, running and mystery solving with some relaxation. Last friday my friend Ashley and I took advantage of a deal at the Blythswood Square Hotel spa for an afternoon of indulgence. This Spa is my absolute favourite and I've ranted about it a few times on the blog already. We had a couple of hours chilling in the thermal experience, followed by an hour long treatment and then afternoon tea. Ashley went for a hot stone massage and I had the Elemis face and body sensation, which was 30 mins of a facial and 30 mins of a neck back and shoulder massage. We both left feeling rather sleepy but also like new women! I honestly see this sort of relaxation and pampering as pretty important self care. Okay it's an expensive treat that you probably couldn't justify doing regularly, but I felt so content and in complete Zen afterwards. I hopefully don't need to leave it too long until the next time.

So if you're looking for things to do in and around Glasgow over the next little while, I hope this post has helped! Are there any events or places to visit that you'd like to share with me too? Seems like it's gonna be a busy summer - and hopefully a sunny one ♥
