HEY YOU GUUUUYS. It's been too long since my last blog post, as usual. Despite Reuben being in more of a routine and sleeping through the night, it means he's sleeping less during the day and we've been out and about so much I've literally had zero chance (or head space) to sit down and write a post. I've got lots of fun content to post over the next couple of months but you'll need to bare with me - even one blog post a week is proving tricky at the moment. So today I'm just popping in with a wee life update/favourites post to give you a round up of what I've been loving lately. I'm gonna try to do this once a month for sure. The things I'm Watching, Listening, Eating, Reading, and Loving. So, here goes!
WATCHING:
Unreal - An american series about the behind-the-scenes drama of a fictitious dating competition show called Everlasting. It's SO good. Party because I work in tv so it's strange seeing a show about a film crew. But also interesting seeing a dramatised version of how contestants are manipulated by producers, and how orchestrated reality tv shows really are (Even Love Island, sorry babes!)
The Rain - I love anything remotely post apocalyptic, and this one is set six years after a brutal virus carried by the rain (literally) wiped out almost all humans in Scandinavia. Two Danish siblings emerge from the safety of their bunker to find all remnants of civilization gone. Really good series as long as you're not bothered by the english dubbing.
The Letdown - This is an australian comedy about a struggling new mother and the support group she befriends. It's a funny but very truthful insight into parenthood and I related to this SO HARD when I watched it when Reuben was only a few weeks old. Even if you don't have kids, it's a total hoot to watch! Especially if you like the dry aussie sense of humour.
Safe - A gripping british drama about an upper class gated community, following surgeon Tom (Michael C Hall with an english accent, v strange) raising his two teenage girls after his wife dies. His eldest daughter goes missing one night, there's a murder at a house party, and basically shit just goes downhill from there. Constantly keeps you guessing and glued to the screen until the finale.
The Handmaids Tale - Currently on season 2 of this (season 3 is out now!) The Handmaid's Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was the United States. Everyone is ruled by what I can only describe as a pretty terrifying religious cult. Worldwide infertility has resulted in the conscription of the few remaining fertile women, aka Handmaids.

LISTENING:
Sparrow Sleeps - Lullaby renditions of aaaall my favourite pop punk music. Gotta raise Reuben with good taste, huh? You can see the list of artists they cover HERE.
The Greatest Showman - For some reason, Reuben is also a big fan of this soundtrack and falls asleep whenever I put it on. Dunno if that's a good or bad thing mind you, haha. I do like a good movie musical to be honest. Just too damn catchy!
Frightened Rabbit - After the recent tragic passing of Frabbits front man Scott, I've been listening to their music again and finding real comfort in their songs. Frightened Rabbit got me through some very tough times in my life, and were often the soundtrack to my own heartbreak. Scott's words spoke to so many people. He was a modern poet who battled bravely with his mental health, and I'm sure others will agree his music got them through some dark times too.
Katy Perry - I'm going to see Katy at the end of the month and suuuuper excited because she always puts on a fantastic show. I'm not as up to date on her latest album and songs so I'll need to get listening to that soon!
Noah Gundersen - This one is Pete's influence as he plays it in the coffee shop and at home a lot. Noah's voice is amazing, and this song, Cigarettes, is my favourite. Just beautiful.
EATING:
Bibimbap - A new delicious Korean eatery opened in Glasgow city centre, I went with my friend Ashley for a mate date and it was fantastic. Their KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) is perfect washed down with a cold Hite beer. I also had the katsu curry, and a cherry gin sling which was mega strong but absolutely BANGIN'.
The Smokehead Feast - A good way to sum up the smokehead feast is 'I've never liked whisky, but HOT DAMN I do now'. An incredible immersive dining experience by the genius team at Dram and Smoke, while trying out Smokehead's original islay single malt, and their high voltage version (which is 58%, jeez!)
Platform - A new street food market has opened at the infamous glasgow Arches, currently open every friday, saturday and sunday. It's doggie friendly too and me and Pete had been meaning to swing by ever since it launched, so a few weeks ago we finally did. There were so many awesome food vendors to choose from, but we ended up sharing some Dirty Meaty Fries from Babu Bombay Street Kitchen, and an ice cream taco from Chunk's Ice Cream.
READING:
To be honest - not that much! Despite reading more books being in my 30 before 30 list, I spent half an hour in Waterstones after the Braehead S/S event and for the life of me could not pick a damn book. So I'd really appreciate any recommendations to ease me back into the flow of reading again! I didn't leave Waterstones empty handed though, I did get Stories For Boys, for Reuben, and it's been nice reading him a biography every night even though he has no idea what I'm talking about. So yeah, hit me with your book recommendations and hopefully next month I'll have a lil book worm update for ya.
LOVING:
Life does feel quite hectic at the moment, but I'm trying not to let it overwhelm me as I have so many good things to be grateful for, and lots of fun plans lined up for the coming weeks. I turned 29 on Monday and have a night out planned with the girls this weekend, Bronson had a fun photoshoot today with BLOW and Kilmurry & Co, I went to a lovely lunch with Fake Bake last Friday at Gusto with my bestie Gemma to celebrate best friends day, I've got Katy Perry at the end of the month, A kind friend managed to source me tickets for BTS with my sister in October, We have Pete's brothers wedding in July, and.... we bought a house! That's right, a little home of our own and everything going well we get the keys next month. I feel like I'm finally getting into the swing of having a social life while being the best Mum I can be to my healthy, happy baby boy. I'm being kinder to myself than I have been in a long time. I still have down days and as much as the above list may seem materialistic, it really is more than that, as I think looking after your mental health post partum is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT things you can do ♥
