Would ya just look at that lil' heartbreaker. I'm back with another puppy related post already, and I'm kinda not even sorry! Bronson has really lit up my life from the day he came home with us. He's a squishy wee ball of energy and love, and me and Pete are having so much fun being doggy parents. It has been a massive learning curve (for me especially, I've never owned a dog before or had one in the family whereas Pete has) but day by day it gets that tiny bit easier. Bronson is one smart cookie and I'm amazed at how quickly he is learning new things and coming on leaps and bounds. Last weekend my Mum and Step Dad played puppy grandparents while I went off to be a bridesmaid for my bestie Heather. Being apart from him for only two nights was really strange, and I was worried sick making sure he had everything packed for his first overnight adventure.
Pictured above is everything I needed to pack for Bronson's trip to my Mums. It may look like a lot, but puppies seem to need a lot of stuff! Food, treats, harness, lead, brush, toys, doggy bags, a blanket, puppy pads, and some wipes/shampoo/conditioner. The look on Pete's face when I spread this all out on the floor was priceless. Better to be over prepared, right? Pete's eyes rolled even more when he saw that Bronson had his very own suitcase for the trip. A Jurni for his journey!
You'll probably have seen or heard of the kids ride on suitcases, Trunki? Well Jurni is essentially the grown up version of that, and is pegged as the ultimate suitcase for young travellers. We've got quite a few trips away booked for the second half of the year, including Singapore and Disneyland Paris, so when jurni isn't being used as my carry on luggage it's essentially Bronson's overnight bag (for a secret stellar reason, but you'll find out what that is soon...)
The best way to describe the Jurni suitcase, is small but mighty! It has a separate top pod compartment, a moveable/removable inner shelf or secret storage, document holder and OF COURSE YOU CAN SIT AND RIDE ON IT - thanks to the custom designed skate wheels. It doesn't have a zip like most traditional suitcases but there is still a padlock fixing point of peace of mind. I did find the thick plastic quite tough to open initially for the front and top sections, but it's fine once you've got the hang of it.
The 25l capacity was perfect for fitting all of Bronson's bits and bobs. This was before he started getting outside for walks and the toilet so I'd armed my mum with a massive wedge of puppy pads for the weekend. He's on full kibble now which is good, we wanted to get him off the wet food as soon as possible. I didn't put in that entire giant bag of Royal Canin (it would need a whole suitcase of it's own!) Just a large tupperware tub full along with some metal bowls which I forgot to picture but are tucked away neatly. The Wainwright biscuit treats have been a successful incentive in aiding his training - Bronson can now sit, give both paws, and a high five! He also gets really excited when I bring his harness out, so that's good he associates it with going outside.
The John Paul Pet products have been a total saviour too. Puppys are... messy pups. He's already had a couple of baths with the Awapoochi Shampoo and Conditioner, due to some rather messy toilet related accidents... and the wipes are used to clean the folds of his face on a daily basis, along with his bum because, well, messy toilet related accidents! Anyone who has ever had a dog will know exactly what I'm talking about. While they're still learning, that shit gets everywhere (LITERALLY)
Now, onto the golden question. You're thinking why the hell would your dog need a suitcase when you could shove the supplies into a few tesco bags and you're jammin'. Bronson is winking because the best part about the Jurni is the fact that it doubles as one of his favourite things...
A travel bed! Seriously, I've transported two cats and a car full of stuff to my grans for the weekend on so many occasions and I was feeling sick at the thought of turning up to my mums with 5 bags, a giant bed and a crate for Bronson. Being able to transport everything he needs in the one compact space was a massive weight off my shoulders. All I had to do was remove the inner shelf, pop his blanket inside and there was a cosy little travel bed. Not to mention a waterproof one, in case he did have any accidents. I've lost count of the amount of times his bed has been in the washing machine. Not recently but definitely in the beginning. He's still just a baby and it's all part of the learning process, but the Jurni case did make Bronson's first journey a whole lot easier than I thought it would be.
I've had quite a lot of people asking me how Bronson and the cats are getting on, and I'm relieved to say that it couldn't be better! Dexter and Binx have welcomed him into their gang, and Binx prefers to watch curiously from a far and he is rather mesmerised by Bronson. Dexter on the other hand gets right in about things, and is often the victim to Bronson playfully jumping and pinning him down. They've had some You've Been Framed worthy boxing matches, with Dexter never hissing or getting his claws out so I'm happy that it's all just playtime for them. Bronson was kindly sent his very first bit of blogger mail from Pawsome Box, and the cats were quick to stick their noses in and see what was in the box! The rope carrot is Bronson's fave, and he's completely destroyed the teddy (ain't no lie that puppies love to chew, my skirting boards and kitchen chairs are a mess!) You get over £40 worth of goodies for under £20 all suited to your dogs profile (6 items, a mixture of toys, treats, accessories and hygiene products) and although this isn't something I would buy on a monthly basis I would definitely think of gifting a box subscription to one of my doggy owning friends.
The kind folks over at Jurni are giving one of my readers the chance to win your own case, in blue, pink or red (for you, or your fluffy friend if you'd prefer!) just enter the rafflecopter competition below :) Have a lovely weekend y'all ♥
